Fashion week starts with house Akupara kicking it off, as well as Rook’s birthday! Dantaylion gets him a teacup he hand painted with a rook on it as a present. Tekhetsio has been spending time with Tenham Hesse, a cousin, and goes to the big kickoff for Fashion Week. Harlequin along with doing Everything is also attending the kickoff ceremony Robin is tailing Tekhetsio to make sure he doesn’t get stabbed. Rook is going to opening ceremonies as well. Lilja is socializing and making us all look like amateurs at it. 

Robin briefly breaks away from following Tekhetsio to check something out but comes back looking a bit ruffled and flustered, though he pretends there’s nothing wrong. 

Dantaylion does see Marco arrive and Monath is trailing behind him, so he takes Marco’s arm to take a turn about the grounds to see everything as it seems like Marco hasn’t noticed Monath is there. 

Rook gets a trump call, it’s Rook’s friend and he’s being chased by a giant serpentine thing. Rook goes to a side room and pulls him through. 

Tekhetsio, Robin and Dantaylion both go to check on Rook seeing them dart off suddenly, but on the way Robin gets a ping from one of his radars and breaks off, Tekhetsio taking a moment to consider before following Robin. That leaves Dantaylion to show up and see Rook and their friend with a torn shirt and bloody injury. He gives his name as Carabas, and Dantaylion is happy for the introduction and asks if there’s anything he can do. Carabas says no, he was just going to head home, and as Rook is being very cagey and awkward but nobody is dying at the moment Dantaylion again offers if there’s anything he can do but otherwise politely makes an exit so they can talk in private if they need after Carabas takes his Trumps out. 

Robin meanwhile finds the source of the Feeling, a man in a mask with a sword, who introduces himself as Brand and clearly knows about Robin’s sickle. He does shots with Robin who decides he likes him enough to not completely turn him into a pile of paste for nosing around on the sickle.

Tekhetsio and Harlequin go approach Robin and Brand at the bar to be total assholes about Brand’s ‘disguise’. Harlequin parts ways before giving their name, but Tekhetsio continues to chat up Brand until three people dressed in Black Watch livery show up and start heading to the group. Robin rabbits out of there dragging Brand with him, and Brand soon trumps out. When the Black Watch catch up, seeing Brand no longer there, they depart.

Lilja is approached by someone about making an arrangement with her for one of her children in Marriage. It’s from a bigger house though one of the people who are lesser ranked in it. 

While the first one is not so much of a winner, Lady Urquhart makes an appearance, and Lilja manages to finagle a tea date between one of her daughters and Rosalind Urqhart while also keeping Lady Urquhart from being there as well. 

When Dantaylion gets back to the main party, Monath is chatting up Marco about his ceramic figures. Dantaylion joins in the conversation and eventually notices Marco is bored so he makes a polite excuse for them to go, that they’ll be late for a reservation. While there was no reservation, Lilja makes one happen for them. 

Robin gets a danger ping, there’s a masked figure around. There’s a short staring contest, then Robin decides to stab them. Tekhetsio notices there’s literally no one else there. Robin absconds to give Rook a birthday present and sing a lil song. 

Meanwhile Harlequin gets a message from a Captain Mokag from the Golden Wastes constabulary. It just says that there’s been an incident. A cliff collapsed. 

Dantaylion got a nice dinner with Marco but also found out that Marco has been getting a lot of suitors lately and is trying to be supportive. 

There is an afterparty in honor of Crow’s birthday as well and everyone but Dantaylion ends up going to it. While they’re out, one of Lilja’s kids is there but they’re politely pretending not to notice each other. Tekhetsio decides to point out someone who is drinking alone at the bar to Robin as someone to hit on before peacing out. Robin chats him up a bit but ultimately this guy basically is told he needs to talk to Tekhetsio as in his life depends on it. He was a simple merchant waylaid in shadow and pretty much told to ask what Tekhetsio knows about Greer’s death and he’s going to get killed if he doesn’t. Tekhetsio basically asks them to ask why they won’t speak to Tekhetsio directly to send that message back to them. The rest get their drink on. 

At home, Dantaylion checks on their dad to see he went to bed early, then takes a bath to head to his room to do some sketching and painting for the night. When he enters his rooms he sees there’s someone in it! A large woman holding someone in a chokehold, who awkwardly explains the other is an assassin? So. Uh. Yeah. Dantaylion is very flustered and apologizes that they’ll have to call the guard, probably? Uh. Yeah. So he does that, figuring they’ll call Harlequin, and returns to his room. He wants to offer to take the guy to let her leave before his siblings arrive but he’s not really buff enough to take over, so she’s there when basically everyone but Lilja shows up. Robin takes the assassin from the woman who tries to escape via mirror, but is grabbed and pulled back by Harlequin and Tekhetsio, then by Robin after Rook pulls the assassin to be held by logrus tentacles. After a lot of arguing they put them both into sitting rooms, with the buff woman in the much better one. She gives her name as Aridan. She can’t give a lot of info, only that she was there following a metaphysical disturbance and that while she wasn’t born into the family that does mirror travel she did learn it, and it was in tracking that that she ran into the assassin basically. She isn’t willing to give more information, specifying that she can’t, really. 

Harlequin is annoyed but goes to check in on Robin and Tekhetsio with the Assassin, who is found with a poisoned dagger and shoddily drawn pictures of Dantaylion and his various forms. He’s unwilling to talk and is hostile, and doesn’t recognize the scythe Robin bears. When Robin flashes the scythe, in the room with Dantaylion and Aridan, Aridan notices that the metaphysical effect just happened while Robin of course sees the masked figure in the reflective surface of the cabinet. Dantaylion tells Aridan about Robin having a weird time with mirrors lately, just freely, because he’s pretty thankful to Aridan for saving his life. 

Once Harlequin returns they take a strand of Aridan’s hair to get a sympathetic magic warning set up in case Aridan returns, and warn her that’s what they’re doing, and after checking with Dantaylion unhappily does just let her go. He checks in with Yannick when they’re all done there just to make sure that Yannick really is just asleep and okay, then returns to his room to clean up. 

Meanwhile around then Lilja gets a call from Snorri about an assassin to the Hesse house, which is suspicious in of itself. She calls Harlequin right after and gets that it was Dantaylion and they captured the assassin alive, though have yet to get any information but strong suspicion is he’s a zealot. She calls Dantaylion right after to check in on him, and tells him to come spend the night at Hendrake Ways and let servants clean up the mess in his room. He agrees, and hangs up so that he can pack an overnight bag. While he’s doing that Robin comes to check on him, and gives him a blood ring to track him in case he gets kidnapped into shadow or a weird mirror realm. Dantaylion tells Robin about what Aridan mentioned she was looking for, and offers to make a trump of her for him so they can maybe touch bases as Robin still has his weird mirror shit to do, and he agrees to tell the others that Dantaylion will be staying with Lilja tonight so nobody worries. With a hug, he calls Lilja to leave back to Hendrake Ways.

Rook goes to the chapel to investigate the area since it seemed to be the entry point for at least Aridan if not the assassin, but wasn’t able to find any clear signs left behind so it would have to be a trump made then dropped. They make the chapel temporarily blocked from being able to trump through. 

Robin orders servants to clean up the mess in Dantaylion’s room for him, then goes to hang out in the kitchen to maybe get some food as they’re still pretty drunk. With Tekhetsio edging him on he decides to call Rook to make sure Rook’s okay. Rook answers, and with the request of Robin and Tekhetsio brings cheeseburgers. Robin mentions the redheaded man in green being interested in his scythe, which annoys Rook as he knows exactly who that motherfucker is, and tells Robin that the scythe has a really bright energy signature so yeah, it’s pretty knowable as an item?

Tekhetsio meanwhile gets a trump call, and surprise, its a big ass dragon. He runs away from the table like it was on fire to take the call in private. It’s the bigass dragon from the trump card he already had from Greer’s secret deck. The dragon demands to know what happened to Greer. They say that they were acquainted with Greer at one point when Tekhetsio asks how they know Greer. Greer would not answer their trumps one day, and a merchant they spoke to said that Greer had died and it was a murder. Tekhetsio does not want to have this conversation right now and asks if they can call them back tomorrow, which the dragon reluctantly agrees to IF HE MUST… the dragon gives the name Abraxis when asked and pukes once he hangs up. 

Robin and Rook quickly rush back to the table to not look like they were eavesdropping. 

Harlequin calls Lilja to ask if Lilja’s special friend is actually trying to help or just see what they know, the name Sister Elashor being what comes up. 

In the morning Dantaylion finishes off his trump of Aridan to give to Robin after having breakfast with Lilja’s family. He also gets a call from Marco who heard he had an assassination attempt and decides to maybe keep the jewel of destiny on him instead of ferreted away, at least for a little bit. Harlequin finds Robin in the kitchen soon after and makes sure that he knows that Aridan was there looking for him, and basically “If you ever want to share info you know I’m here.”
